The Cost of True Faithfulness: Comments on the Persecution of Thomas Achord

By Davis Carlton

And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake” – Matthew 10:22

Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.” – Matthew 16:24-25

If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.” – John 15:18

I don’t know Thomas Achord personally but I wish that I did. I know of Thomas through social media, through his commentary with Stephen Wolfe on the Ars Politica podcast, and through his co-authorship with Darrell Dow of the masterpiece Who is My Neighbor? An Anthology of Natural Relations. I always find his posts and comments on Facebook to be wise, insightful, and articulate. Thomas is able to speak to controversial topics without rendering needless offense in a concerted effort to maintain peace. I have found Thomas to be a true “man’s man” who combines his considerable learning with practical knowledge that he is able to use as a provider and protector of his family. It’s without exaggeration that I can say that Thomas Achord provides an excellent example for other men to follow. I often feel challenged in a good way by Thomas’s posts to better myself.

For this reason I was incredibly grieved and saddened to learn that Thomas had been “doxxed” and consequently forced to resign from his position as headmaster Sequitur Classical Academy. Who is My Neighbor has gained Achord a tremendous amount of notoriety in the space of a week. Achord was placed in the crosshairs of the neo-Marxist left and was doxxed as the author of the supposedly “racist” Twitter account going by the pseudonym Tulius Aadland – one of others that he had used in the past. Achord has denied that the Twitter account is actually his. He was not able to log into the account and has flagged the account as a fraud with Twitter. This hasn’t stopped his accusers, particularly Alastair Roberts, from claiming that he is lying based upon a photo on the account that was supposedly taken from inside the church in which the Christian school that had employed Achord met.

Achord’s statement on the incident is available online, as well as his entirely understandable refusal to weigh in on spurious “evidence” against him. Thomas correctly points out that those waging this vicious campaign against him have seemingly endless time on their hands, and he has more pressing concerns to worry about, such as providing for his four daughters and wife who is pregnant with their son. I take Thomas’s denial at face value, but I also wouldn’t consider a false denial to be blame-worthy given that Thomas is trying to handle a situation in which bad faith actors are threatening his livelihood and the well-being of his family. If that is the case, then Thomas’s dishonesty would be no different than the virtuous lies told by Abraham (to protect the virtue of Sarah from the potential ravaging of Pharaoh), Rahab (to protect the spies from Israel from execution by the king of Jericho), or the Egyptian midwives (to protect the men children of Israel from Pharaoh’s population control measures). At any rate, considerable funds have already been donated to Thomas Achord’s family to help them through this difficult time, and this stands as a testimony to the esteem in which he is held.

Rod Dreher has weighed in on Achord’s forced resignation with approval, via calling Achord a “closet racist and anti-Semite.” Dreher stated that when he originally saw information posted by Alastair Roberts about Thomas Achord that he “arranged for this information to get into the hands of the Sequitur board at once, with the message that they had better be aware of this and start looking into it, because it was blowing up.” Being the compassionate, concerned man that he is, Dreher “didn’t want the board of a small school I cared about to be blindsided by a controversy emerging on Twitter about its headmaster.” Rod Dreher’s children had been students at Sequitur Academy and his ex-wife is still affiliated with the school. Rod Dreher’s participation in this online vendetta against Thomas Achord is striking because he admits that his previous limited interactions with Thomas had been positive: “[H]e (Thomas) is a very quiet, modest, friendly man… The only thing I knew about him, aside from his position, was that in the great 2016 flood in the Baton Rouge area, he went out in his boat to rescue people, until the local authorities made him and other private boaters stop. Cajun Navy stuff. It’s a good man who does that.”

Dreher’s article is full of sanctimonious preening in which he calls white nationalism a “malign ideology.” Dreher states that even if Achord is not Tulius Aadland, he still deserved to lose his job because “No Christian school could afford to have someone who believes those things [that racial segregation is a social good] as its headmaster.” He then shares a screen shot of the table of contents in which Achord and Dow have the temerity to provide quotes and data supporting such unconscionable propositions as “Borders Reduce Violence,” “Diversity Increases Conflict,” and “Segregation Decreases Violence.” Dreher says nothing to actually refute any of these claims because he knows that they will meet the disapproval of his audience. Dreher chooses to live by liberal lies and freely accepts left-wing platitudes aimed at deconstructing and undermining white identity. Is Dreher actually prepared to condemn those quoted by Achord and Dow as “racists” and “white supremacists?”

As the myriad of quotes provided by Dow and Achord demonstrate, these contentions were essentially taken for granted until quite recently. Belief in such obvious things is only a sin to the post-modern secular West. It is extremely hypocritical for Dreher to condemn Achord for wrongthink according to the standards of secular egalitarianism while he has divorced his wife and abandoned his family and currently lives in Hungary, a country in Europe which has recently come under condemnation for its explicit policies aimed at preserving its traditional ethnic identity and Christianity. Here Dreher is using “borrowed capital” in that he has left “diverse” and “vibrant” Louisiana and now lives under the benefits of a Kinist society while condemning those who intellectual defend such policies as white supremacists.

In the past Dreher has been able and willing to make inconvenient observations about the harmful effects of racial diversity on society, but is unwilling to take these observations to their logical conclusions. Dreher attempts to maintain a respectable distance from the malignant white nationalism that he pins on Thomas Achord while decrying the promotion of identity politics that underpins the “woke” social justice movement. Dreher paints “white supremacy” as a natural albeit morally incorrect response to the ubiquitous anti-white hatred of America in the current year. Dreher’s bid to distance himself from what he considers morally unacceptable nationalism and white advocacy will not work. The usual suspects have teamed up with Antifa in stirring up strife against Thomas Achord and if these revolutionaries are ultimately successful then we can be assured that they will come for “moderates” like Dreher after the Kinists have been duly dispatched.

A man called Eric on Twitter has posted extensively on this subject and has called out Dreher for uttering such blasphemies against equality as the suggestion that “section 8 housing turns your neighborhood into a s**thole.” Yes Eric, section 8 housing does turn neighborhoods into “s**tholes” and only someone who is willfully ignorant and downright lying would deny something so obvious! The wolves baying for blood consider what should be and has been a mainstream sentiment to be morally unacceptable and worthy of being cancelled for crypto-white supremacy!

Since Thomas Achord was forced to resign his position as headmaster John Reasnor along with Twitter Eric Dude have been attempting to doxx Kinists associated with Faith & Heritage and Tribal Theocrat. During these posts both Eric and John Reasnor were reposting and interacting with posts from White Rose Antifa:

The Twitter page for White Rose Antifa confirms the communist left-wing politics behind those seeking to ruin the lives of Kinists and Christian ethno-nationalists, and this should come as no surprise to anyone who has been paying attention to Antifa for the past several years. Antifa is militantly anti-white and anti-Christian in taking radically pro-abortion and pro-homosexual stances. Another man joining the doxxing spree going by Henry J. Wallis is an open and admitted communist, and has stated that homosexuality isn’t a sin and that the Bible doesn’t condemn homosexuality.

One particularly nasty player in this affair is a self-described anti-fascist filmmaker who goes by Eli McGowan and who has been relentless in his hatred for Thomas Achord. Not content to see Achord lose his livelihood, McGowan reported the Give Send Go fundraiser for Achord’s family, complaining that it was funding a “white supremacist.” When called out for his treachery, McGowan brags that he has the full support of his PCA church and that unlike Thomas Achord, he has no reason to fear “professional or ecclesiastical consequences.”

Even in the context of the current year I find this kind of vitriol to be shocking given that it comes from a professed conservative Christian who is trying to cancel financial assistance to a fellow Christian who has a family to support. One almost gets the impression that McGowan would be content for Achord’s children to starve to death as a fitting punishment for the politically incorrect opinions that Achord dared to publish in print and online. It’s also noteworthy that McGowan approvingly shares tweets from the self-same Henry J. Wallis who supports sodomy and communism. To a PCA layman like McGowan, communists and sodomy advocates have ideas worth sharing, but “racists” who don’t prostrate themselves before the Moloch of egalitarianism and white genocide deserve to be canceled and exiled. The hypocrisy could not be more stark and obvious.

I find this whole vindictive doxxing campaign to be nothing short of diabolical. Thomas Achord hasn’t harmed anyone and hasn’t advocated for harming anyone. Kinists don’t doxx other Christians as a means of punishing them by reporting them to the PC police in order to have them persecuted. Our enemies have decided to make common cause with very literal communists who hate Christianity and advocate for what God repeatedly calls abominations that cry out for justice. Why would professed Christians seek to ruin the livelihoods of other Christians while allying themselves with those who are the explicit avowed enemies of Christ?

What are we to conclude from this whole affair as it continues to unfold? I have tried to be charitable in my online discussions with people of other viewpoints because I know that the topic of race is highly sensitive in today’s climate. I haven’t always been successful, and there have been times where I’ve even apologized to those who I have spoken harshly to over private messenger. That being said, I’ve tried to see most of those who oppose Kinism or Christian ethno-nationalism as honest albeit mistaken Christians. I can no longer maintain this posture when it comes to the central players in the doxxing of Thomas Achord, nor can any other Kinist. Alastair Roberts, Eli McGowan, and John Reasnor must repent of the role they have played in their attempts to ruin a Christian gentleman.

Men like Neil Shenvi who have attempted to maintain a winsome posture as a critic of the more extreme versions of “woke” ideology while not rejecting the purveyors of said ideology have a decision to make. Will Shenvi denounce the atrocious behavior of those who have pursued Thomas Achord with their bloodlust? Or is supporting someone tarred as a “white supremacist” something that Shenvi’s “winsomeness” simply won’t allow? This incident has revealed the true character of those who most ardently oppose Kinism and Christian ethno-nationalism. They are willing to make common cause with the enemies of Christ and promoters of abortion and sodomy all in their hatred of “racism.” Kinists will continue to live out our beliefs and support our brothers when they are unjustly attacked by the brood of vipers. The middle ground between the anti-white “woke” and Kinist ethno-nationalism has become as untenable as the “no man’s land” between the trenches of World War One era Europe. The line in the sand has just become a whole lot more well-defined.

You cannot talk to these ‘people’ ; they only understand one thing…
Past time to ‘shake the dust’.
